If I had to Describe Transition in a few lines
Our student-poet and soon-to-be graduate Urja Sharma wrote a new poem concentrating on the transition from this semester to the next to commemorate the hard work that all the college community and students put forth.
If I had to Describe Transition in a few Lines
The very Closing of the Eye Glistening Bright
The frontal cortical Freedom of the fresh Day.
The very Closing of the Eye Glistening Bright
The fish concentric Fragility of the fruit Dream.
The very Closing of the Eye Glistening Bright
The famous cauldron Fuelled of the forgotten Deeds.
The very Closing of the Eye Glistening Bright
The final complete Forest of the fulfilled Deep.
The very Closing of the Eye Glistening Bright
The finesse chariot Formed of the finite Degree.

Her professor Lorenzo Tomescu writes:
Urja conveys an intensity of aesthetic concentration while simultaneously implying the limitless outside. I feel she invites the viewer to pause on her subject and images. However, the poem’s language both ranges and concentrates on an area of her concern. For me the essence of her poem is self-reflectivity — the art and attention required for poetry. Her physical references to the fleshy human eye in the process of closing or opening, a deft allusion to the sensations and ideations exchanged in the course of expressing and perceiving. For me “If I had to Describe Transition in a few Lines” rewards the reader with a mesmeric instantiation disclosing how poetic feeling beautifully dilates and contracts.
